The High School Home Run Derby returns for its 12th year, adding excitement to the array of electrifying All-Star events.
Over the years, aspiring sluggers have showcased their skills. While participating in a Home Run Derby isn’t a guaranteed predictor of future major league success, 19 previous competitors have advanced to the Major Leagues, including two winners: two-time All-Star Bobby Witt Jr. (2018) and Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman (2017).
This year’s High School Home Run Derby is set for Saturday at 10:30 a.m. ET at Truist Park in Atlanta, and will be streamed live on MLB.com. Here’s a closer look at the nine participants:
Will Adams, 1B/LHP, Hoover HS (AL)
A versatile player who took part in the 2024 MLB Hank Aaron Invitational, Adams stands as Alabama’s top-ranked prep first baseman per Perfect Game. This 6-foot-2, 202-pound lefty has also clocked a fastball at 92 mph. He’s committed to Louisiana State.
Easton Autrey, 3B/1B/OF, Corsicana HS (TX)
Autrey has made headlines with a stunning 544-foot home run at Globe Life Field. As the son of renowned Corsicana coach Heath Autrey, he stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 233 pounds, offering a solid left-handed swing. He is committed to Texas.
Grady Emerson, SS/2B, Fort Worth Christian (TX)
Ranked No. 1 by Perfect Game for the 2026 prep class, Emerson is lauded for his all-around game. A left-handed hitter, he combines consistency with the ability to hit for average, showcased by his .381 batting average in the WBSC World Cup Americas qualifier. Originally a TCU commit, he has switched to Texas.
Brady Harris, OF/IF, Trinity Christian Academy (FL)
Harris demonstrates quick bat speed with a barrel that maintains the zone effectively. At 6-foot-2, he has potential for further growth and is a Florida commit known for his defensive skills in center field.
Jacob Lombard, SS/2B/3B, Gulliver Schools (FL)
As the brother of MLB Pipeline’s No. 36 prospect, George Lombard Jr., Jake exhibits noteworthy hitting balance and discipline. If he can achieve impressive power in the Derby, he might surpass his brother’s 2023 Draft position of No. 26 overall.
Malachi Washington, OF/2B, Parkview HS (GA)
Washington is celebrated as a top athlete, also excelling in football. With his speed and defensive skills, he has attracted significant scouting interest. Initially thought to be a hit-first player, his recent power development makes him a serious contender in the Derby. Plus, being from nearby Parkview High School, he could have a home-field advantage.
