In my previous article, I discussed the NBA Misery Index, highlighting fan bases that are struggling the most, including those in Dallas, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Phoenix, and Washington. I must apologize to Chicago and Charlotte fans for not including them—they also have their share of misery!
Ending Paul George’s Season
Paul George’s challenging season has come to an end. The 76ers wing received approximately $1.2 million per game for a season that lasted only 41 games. After getting injections in his left knee and adductor muscle, the team announced he will be sidelined for at least six weeks.
It’s effectively the end of the season for George and the 76ers, who have a 23-45 record and are not aiming to make the Play-In Tournament as they shift into tanking mode. With key players like Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey unavailable, they’re working to secure a better draft positioning, hoping for a top-six pick to avoid giving their selection to the Thunder.
This isn’t what Philadelphia envisioned when they signed George to a four-year, $212 million contract last summer. Rather than contending with the likes of Boston, they find themselves hoping to land alongside Washington and Charlotte after upcoming lottery decisions. George wrapped up the season averaging 16.2 points on 43% shooting, a far cry from expectations.

The Pacers Surprise the Timberwolves: Despite missing key players, the Pacers edged out the Timberwolves in a dramatic overtime win, overcoming an absence of star players like Tyrese Haliburton and Myles Turner. Obi Toppin led the Pacers with a remarkable 34-point performance, propelling Indiana to a narrow 132-130 victory.
In a comical twist reminiscent of “The Other Guys,” the Pacers managed to snatch victory from the Timberwolves, who were on an eight-game winning streak. With clutch performances down the stretch, including Toppin’s pivotal three-pointer, the Pacers outlasted the Timberwolves, with the final game-winning shot sealing the deal.
