Each week, we survey a group of baseball writers—both local and national—to rank the teams from first to last. Here are the combined outcomes.
As we approach the midpoint of the season, it’s a suitable moment to evaluate how each team is faring relative to our expectations for the 2025 season. Some franchises, like the Dodgers and Phillies, are more or less aligning with our preseason predictions. Others, such as the Tigers and Blue Jays, are exceeding our forecasts, while teams like the Braves and Diamondbacks are underperforming compared to what we had anticipated. Performance is not the only factor, as injuries and ownership decisions also influence outcomes. However, examining how each team has performed can provide insights beyond the initial conditions they faced.
Various circumstances can shift a team’s success throughout the season, so let’s analyze the current standings to understand why certain teams are performing better, worse, or just as well as expected and what this may indicate for their future.
