Overview of the Nothing Phone (3)
The Nothing Phone (3) has sparked some debate with its design choices, yet it remains a robust piece of technology.
Teardown Insights
A recent teardown by JerryRigEverything provides an in-depth examination of the device’s durability. The initial findings indicate that it is impressively resilient. The Gorilla Glass 7i display scratches at a usual Mohs hardness of six, with deeper scratches appearing at level seven, and the aluminum frame also shows scratches and chips when tested with a razor blade. Both the camera glass and the surrounding rings remain largely unscathed by external damage, while the burn test leaves typical marks after the screen cools.

Bend Test Results
The bend test is a highlight for viewers of JRE. Despite some questionable placements for the antenna lines, the Nothing Phone (3) demonstrates strong durability, resisting bending or flexing when under applied pressure.
Teardown Details
The latter part of the video features a standard teardown process, showcasing the removal of the back panel, which requires a blade to cut through the adhesive. The rear camera bumps are integrated into the back glass and detach with it. The Glyph Matrix’s capacitive button cover is also part of this design. Although the back panel offers a glimpse into the device, a protective shield covers the internals for added safety. This design choice might have influenced some of the device’s controversial reception.
Glyph Matrix Exploration
A particularly fascinating aspect of the teardown is the Glyph Matrix. This circular display consists of 489 pixels, and allows for a unique interaction by blending the wireless charging feature with a cutout around the coils. Additionally, the device has enough repairability to receive a C rating from the EU, as suggested in the video. Notably, JerryRigEverything concludes with the device successfully restarting after reassembly.
