Moon Studios, renowned for their work on Ori and the Blind Forest, has provided an update regarding the Xbox version of their upcoming title, No Rest for the Wicked.
No Rest for the Wicked is a top-down action RPG that boasts stunning graphics and engaging combat. Drawing inspiration from Diablo, it incorporates a higher skill ceiling that rewards precision and patience, similar to its predecessor, Ori. With its dark, handcrafted world and a plethora of game mechanics, the game shows immense potential as it furthers its development through Steam’s Early Access. Currently, No Rest for the Wicked is priced at $39.99 on Steam and has received positive feedback so far.
Fans of Ori on Xbox may be curious about the release date for No Rest for the Wicked. However, there is some disappointing news to share.
In remarks made in No Rest for the Wicked’s Discord, CEO Thomas Mahler revealed that Xbox is the lowest priority for the game’s console release, trailing behind Switch 2 and PS5. He mentioned the intention to “discuss things with [Microsoft] to consider what aligns best for Xbox.”
In a follow-up on X, Mahler clarified that while No Rest for the Wicked will eventually be available on all platforms, it is unlikely to launch simultaneously. According to him, PS5 makes the “most sense” based on statistical data.
The conversation surrounding potential sales on Xbox is ongoing, especially for games not included in Xbox Game Pass. Despite this, PlayStation is actively seeking opportunities to bring more titles to Xbox, indicating a competitive landscape. Although games like Diablo have thrived on Xbox, the independent nature of Moon Studios means that platform development decisions are often influenced by financial considerations. Without substantial backing from Microsoft, the appeal of PlayStation becomes more pronounced.
Regardless, keep an eye on No Rest for the Wicked on Steam, and share your thoughts in the comments about the likelihood of its arrival on Xbox.
