Come on Spoff, you know you’re fond of us and have missed our presence.
I won’t confirm or deny that.
Welcome back, Mike! Hope your sabbatical was refreshing. Wes really excelled while you were away. He mainly discussed the draft and the owners’ meetings. He mentioned that while on break, he avoids any coverage of the Inbox and gets all his updates from Pa Hod. By the way, I had thought you were the II editor. If that’s not the case, who is? Does that mean Wes has been handling everything solo during your absence? If so, he certainly managed the significant responsibilities well. Go, Pack, Go!
I am, indeed, the editor (of the entire website, not just this column), and when I return I catch up on all the Inbox content before getting back into it. While I’m away, I trust Wes completely to manage on his own. He always handles it exceptionally. He even managed to navigate unexpected technical issues during coverage of the league meetings this week with great skill. I can imagine I would have been very frustrated if faced with what he had to deal with.
The current sentiments in MLB can be compared to the initial reaction some had when a new player with a powerful driver joined our golf group. It felt like cheating at first, yet within a decade, it became commonplace. By the way, when are the Prospect Primers starting?
They started on Monday, and there will be a total of 20 posted leading up to the draft.
Mike McCarthy’s vague response in “Out of Darkness,” referenced by Cliff in his draft article, has me quite curious about which quarterback he preferred while with the 49ers as their offensive coordinator. Forget the draft boards; that’s what I really want to know about the 2005 draft. Maybe Mike will share in a future memoir…
