Adrien Malaval Dominates Tampere Supercross in Finland
French rider Adrien Malaval claimed the Tampere Dominator title at the international supercross event in Tampere, Finland, while Harri Kullas was unable to maintain his winning streak and retired early in the final.
Malaval, participating in his first race at the Tampere Sports and Expo arena, celebrated victory in the international SX1 class over the two-day event. After finishing third on Friday, he secured first place on Saturday, earning the Tampere Dominator title, the sole indoor supercross event in Finland.
“It was an incredible race,” Malaval reflected. “Initially, I wasn’t sure what to expect. We made several adjustments to my bike after Friday, and by Saturday, I felt comfortable and confident. Although I didn’t have the best start in the final, my performance improved as the race went on,” he added with a smile.
American riders took the next three spots in the SX1 final on Saturday, with Cade Clason finishing second after leading early, followed by Tristan Lane and Mike Alessi in third and fourth. Estonia’s Kaarel Tilk finished in fifth place.
Despite high expectations for Kullas, who had won all his heats on Friday, his final race ended early due to a miscalculated jump. He struggled with the start, falling to fifth position and later couldn’t continue after a significant incident. In addition, local rider Jere Haavisto led initially but crashed near the end and had to retire from the final.
In the SX2 class, Kasimir Hindersson emerged victorious, taking advantage of a fall by Simo Koskinen, who had led early on. Hindersson’s winning moment came as he maintained a steady pace after Koskinen’s mistake.
The event entertained a large crowd, and in addition to his SX1 class win, Malaval excelled in the one-lap Superpole race and triumphed in the elimination knockout round against Kullas. The Tampere Supercross, celebrated for the 11th time, continues to be a key event on the supercross calendar.
