AFN Europe Expands Live Radio Programming
KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – American Forces Network Europe is set to enhance two of its popular live radio shows on AFN The Eagle stations starting Monday, as announced by network representatives.
These changes will introduce a new schedule featuring two three-hour broadcasts directly from the AFN headquarters studio in Sembach, Germany. This marks one of the most significant alterations to the Eagle’s radio lineup in over four decades, according to station officials.
“The extended hours and new show formats are direct responses to listener feedback,” explained Air Force Staff Sgt. Matthew Kakaris, the senior radio producer at AFN Europe. “We’re continually attentive to our audience’s desires and strive to enhance our services, aiming to better support the American personnel stationed in Europe.”
The revamped programming includes an extended version of “Brunch Bites,” hosted by Senior Airman Ariana Howard, which will air from 9 a.m. to noon. This show will cover industry updates, celebrity news, and pop culture trends.
Following Howard, Senior Airman Dom Ingram takes the mic for “Tactical Lunch” from noon to 3 p.m., focusing on military news, command updates, and discussions relevant to the service community.
“We’re eager to provide more engaging and pertinent content to our audience,” stated Howard. “This change allows us to delve deeper into topics and foster greater interaction with our listeners.” Both shows aim to offer both entertainment and essential information to their respective audiences.
The programs will be primarily hosted by service members from different military branches. These DJs, reminiscent of Robin Williams’ portrayal of DJ Adrian Cronauer in the iconic film “Good Morning, Vietnam,” are trained at the Defense Information School in Maryland, where they acquire the necessary skills for radio content production and broadcasting.
