As Arsenal heads towards a potential second-place finish for the third consecutive year—with Liverpool winning the Premier League—Mikel Arteta is still striving to secure a title. The Gunners last lifted the trophy in 2004, but an effective summer transfer window could change their fortunes.
On talkSPORT, former Aston Villa striker and Arsenal supporter Bent revealed his preferred title-contending squad. He advocated for David Raya in goal, flanked by Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel, and Myles Lewis-Skelly. He suggested White over Jurrien Timber, citing White’s superior performance despite injury issues.
In midfield, Bent expressed the desire to retain Thomas Partey while also considering Zubimendi. His ideal combination features Zubimendi or Partey holding the midfield alongside Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice, emphasizing that Odegaard needs to shine in the upcoming season.
When discussing his choices, Bent stated, “On the right, Bukayo Saka obviously, and on the left, I favor Nico Williams for his consistency and contributions to a successful Spain team.” Gyokeres would lead the line, having impressive goal-scoring records, underscoring his potential to be a decisive factor for Arsenal.
Bent remained optimistic, asserting that with these additions, Arsenal’s chances of winning the league could improve significantly, with Zubimendi reportedly nearing a transfer agreement costing around £50 million. European football expert Guillem Balague noted that Arsenal is also targeting Williams and Gyokeres as key summer signings.
