This season has been remarkable and possibly iconic for the ATP Tour, mainly due to the exceptional performances of superstars Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
However, there is one more tournament left, and significant stakes are involved. While the majority of professional players have entered their brief offseason, the top-tier men are still competing, aiming to secure the ATP Finals trophy.
Hosted at the Pala Alpitour arena in Turin, Italy, for the fifth consecutive year, this prestigious event features the top eight singles players and eight doubles teams. It starts on Sunday with round-robin group matches. Over six days of competition, each player or team will compete in three matches, with the top two from each group advancing to the semifinals.
The tournament will conclude on November 16, with the undefeated singles champion set to earn a remarkable $5,071,000, while the winning doubles team could receive up to $959,300. An undefeated champion in either singles or doubles will also gain 1,500 ranking points. Conversely, players who lose a match during group play will earn less in terms of both prize money and ranking points.

Overview of the Champions
Alcaraz and Sinner had outstanding seasons, consistently showcasing their dominance on the ATP Tour. With over a 5,000-point lead in the rankings over their competitors, they divided the four major titles, with Alcaraz winning the French Open and the US Open, while Sinner secured victories at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. Notably, they faced off in the finals of three of these Grand Slams.
Both players excelled outside of major tournaments as well, with Alcaraz securing an impressive six additional titles, including three Masters 1000 events. Sinner also shone by winning three titles this fall, capped by a victory in the Paris Masters.
Novak Djokovic’s Situation
As for Novak Djokovic, his participation in the tournament has been uncertain due to his limited appearances in the second half of the season. He qualified for the ATP Finals last month, having reached the semifinals in all four majors. However, he has been elusive regarding his playing plans, which he will announce after his current tournament concludes.
American Players’ Impact
Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz mark the return of American men to compete for the year-end singles title, a first since 2006. While they aren’t favorite candidates, both players have had successful seasons, making them capable of surprising outcomes. Fritz returns to the ATP Finals after reaching the final last year, whereas Shelton has had a breakthrough year, culminating in his first Masters 1000 title.
The doubles category features the duo of Christian Harrison and Evan King, who entered the ATP Finals after a remarkable season together. They are seeking to replicate the success of previous American teams and aim to win their biggest title yet as they close out 2025.
