PHOENIX — Odell Beckham Jr. arrived at the Arizona Biltmore during the NFL’s annual meetings and discussed a potential return to the New York Giants with coach John Harbaugh on Monday, according to sources.
While Beckham made his interest known to team officials, multiple sources reported that no deal is currently in the works. Nonetheless, the Giants may have some interest despite Beckham not having played last season, and he has expressed a desire to return to where his career began.
There remains a possibility of Beckham working out with the team in the near future, which would likely be a prerequisite for any potential signing. General manager Joe Schoen emphasized the importance of seeing him perform given that he hasn’t played in over a year.
Since Beckham currently resides and trains in Arizona, it was convenient for him to attend the meetings where many NFL insiders gathered. He has been training for a return to the NFL and is quite open about wanting to come back to New York.
Harbaugh has spoken positively about Beckham, whom he coached in Baltimore during the 2023 season, where Beckham recorded 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns. Their ongoing communication reflects a strong relationship between the two, which could facilitate a reunion.
While Beckham seems eager for a second chance, the Giants have made other moves by re-signing veteran wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins and signing Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin III in recent weeks.
Beckham has garnered support from current Giants players, including quarterback Jaxson Dart and wide receiver Malik Nabers, both of whom have expressed their support for his return.
In a similar vein, former Giant and 2010 first-round pick Jason Pierre-Paul took to social media to invite the Giants to consider him as well, highlighting that he is ready to contribute once again.
