Portland Trail Blazers’ 2025-26 Schedule Overview
The Portland Trail Blazers recently had their 2025-26 schedule announced. While every team plays 82 games, the difficulty and distribution of those games can vary significantly from one team to another and year to year. After reviewing Portland’s schedule, several noteworthy aspects emerge.
Reflecting back to the summer of 1991, I recall the excitement of examining the schedule. With my first taste of disposable income, I was determined to purchase as many Blazers game tickets as possible. Season tickets were beyond my budget, so I had to be selective. Strategic matchups mattered, allowing me to see stars like Olajuwon, Jordan, Ewing, and Magic Johnson, while also seeking out favorable outcomes, which were more common then.
Modern Blazers fans may not appreciate how different it is to play at the top of the league. In those times, games could be seen as either surefire wins or challenging toss-ups. Win 90% of the easy games and half of the toss-ups, and a great record often followed. Looking back to the ’91-’92 season, it felt feasible for the Blazers to win 70 games, as tough matchups were scarce.
Recently, the situation for the Blazers has seemed more akin to a difficult choice of frozen pizza: consistently tough. Unlike the thriving years of Clyde Drexler, even a toss-up game now feels like a relief in a schedule full of expected defeats.
This season, there appears to be a slight uplift. Matches against teams like the Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans, Utah Jazz, and Phoenix Suns might offer realistic chances for wins, though nothing is guaranteed.
However, the broader calendar still suggests a series of challenging matchups. There are no easy months in sight; whenever a stretch seems hopeful, it’s often countered by a formidable lineup from Portland’s perspective. The initial five months forecast around three easy wins monthly, with many games likely placing Portland at a disadvantage.
Looking at this year’s schedule, there’s an awareness that the Blazers still face many uncertainties. A myriad of factors can lead to setbacks, which the team may struggle to endure. This season might once again focus more on resilience, potential, and standout individual performances than overall team success.
