Following the trailer’s viral moment and the surge of Steam wishlists, Ulrik Langvandsbråten, the creative director and co-founder of Haenir Studio, collaborated with Behaviour to overhaul Blight’s foundational systems.
In an interview, Ashley Pannell, senior creative director at Behaviour Interactive, acknowledged the heightened expectations following the game’s growing popularity. He emphasized that the pressure ultimately motivates the team to enhance the game’s quality.
Pannell expressed that while the team is aware of gamers’ skepticism due to past disappointments in the gaming community, their focus remains on creating a genuine and enjoyable game. Regular community engagement and feedback sessions are already in place, helping to shape the development process.
So, what can players expect from Blight: Survival? It is an action horror co-op experience with a strong emphasis on risk and reward in combat scenarios. Elements borrowed from various genres contribute to the core gameplay loop, where players must carefully consider their decisions. The game also features extraction components, adding another layer of strategy without being confined to a specific genre. While a 2026 release is not confirmed, interest remains high, with active community participation in playtesting.
