Upcoming Golf Tournament
The University of Delaware’s Lady Blue Hens women’s golf team is set to host its 12th annual Battle at the Beach at Rehoboth Beach Country Club from October 18-19. College golf enthusiasts are encouraged to attend and enjoy the event.
Participating Teams
Competing teams include the host institution, the University of Delaware, along with Dartmouth College, Delaware State University, Georgetown University, Howard University, University of Pennsylvania, Quinnipiac University, Sacred Heart University, Seton Hall University, St. John’s University, Yale University, and Youngstown State University.
Match Format and Course Details
Each team fields five players, with some schools also adding individual golfers whose scores will not contribute to the team total. The tournament will utilize the club’s popular bayside 19th hole as the 10th, set at 140 yards, and the course stretches over 6,100 yards.
Event Schedule
Teams are scheduled to practice on Friday, October 17, with the competitive rounds commencing early the next day at 8:30 a.m. The day will start with the opening of the putting and chipping areas, followed by a shotgun start for 36 holes. A welcome dinner will be hosted by the club on Saturday evening.
Final Day and History
On Sunday, play resumes with another shotgun start for 18 holes at 9 a.m., and the awards ceremony is expected to occur in the mid-afternoon. Notably, 2025 will celebrate 25 years of college golf tournaments in the Cape Region, which originally started at Kings Creek Country Club with an event from George Washington University’s men’s golf team.
Zero Friction Innovations
At the PGA Show, I always make a point to visit Zero Friction, known for their innovative golf products. This Chicago-based company offers tees, gloves, balls, and bags, and is distinguished primarily by its unique Zero Friction tees and colorful one-size-fits-all gloves, which stand out in pro shops.
New Product Highlights
During my recent visit to their booth, I discussed their new Tru Roll golf balls, which feature alignment stripes for improved putting. Additionally, their budget-friendly Vibe model balls come in eye-catching colors and are designed to be easy to spot on the course.
Mantra Apparel Overview
Creating a clothing line is a common route into the golf industry. However, Dominic Natalizio and Ashley Revay from Mantra chose to innovate with their polo shirt collars, deviating from tradition. The unique collar design has been well-received. They incorporate eco-friendly fabrics in their apparel and maintain a range of traditional styles as well.
