Gervonta Davis Arrested in Miami
Gervonta Davis, a prominent boxer and three-time world champion, was arrested in Miami on Wednesday. This occurred nearly two weeks after an arrest warrant was issued, accusing him of battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping related to an alleged domestic violence incident last fall.
Details of the Arrest
Miami Gardens police confirmed that Davis was apprehended following a multi-day surveillance operation spanning three counties, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. He was taken into custody without incident in Miami’s Design District and subsequently booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center late Wednesday night.
Allegations Against Davis
The warrant was linked to an alleged confrontation on October 27 at a Miami Gardens strip club where a woman, previously in a relationship with Davis, was working. Authorities claim Davis confronted her in the club, forcibly taking her into a back room, assaulting her, and restraining her before escorting her outside.
Victim’s Testimony
According to a police report, Davis allegedly grabbed the woman by her hair and throat while making threats, before taking her to a parking area where he let her go. Following the incident, the woman sought help from coworkers and contacted the police, who documented visible injuries, including bruises on her arm.
Civil Lawsuit Filed
The woman reported that she met Davis in 2022 and they had a romantic relationship for several months in 2025, which ended about a month before the alleged incident. She has also filed a civil lawsuit against Davis, alleging battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping, with her attorney stating that the police findings support her claims.
Ongoing Legal Issues
At a press conference on January 14, police defined the case as a domestic violence matter and indicated that they were collaborating with federal agencies to apprehend Davis. Court documents show that Davis’s lawyers made several attempts to serve him with the civil complaint but were unsuccessful.
Impact on Boxing Career
Davis, 31, was training in Miami last fall for a fight against influencer Jake Paul, but was removed from the lineup once the civil lawsuit became public. His boxing license has been affected, and he was stripped of the WBA lightweight title due to inactivity and the ongoing legal situation. His last ring appearance was in March, and it remains uncertain how the new charges will influence his probation status from a prior conviction.
