Ryan Garcia Vs. Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero
The May 2 event will be Ryan Garcia’s first fight since his controversial majority decision win over Devin Haney in April 2024. Following that match, the New York State Athletic Commission declared it a no contest due to Garcia’s failed drug test, resulting in a one-year suspension and a fine. Despite his previous win, Garcia could not claim Haney’s WBC title due to weighing over the championship limit.
On the other side, Rolando Romero (16-2, with 13 knockouts) has had mixed results recently, alternating wins and losses over his last five bouts. After a notable TKO victory over Ismael Barroso in May 2023, he lost his title to Isaac Cruz before regaining some momentum with a unanimous decision win against Manuel Jaimes in September 2024.
Canelo Alvarez Vs. William Scull
Canelo Alvarez is set to face William Scull for the undisputed super middleweight title on May 3. This fight comes after Alvarez was stripped of the IBF title for not defending against Scull earlier. Scull, currently undefeated at 23-0, captured the vacant IBF title last October. Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) is aiming to reclaim his status after his recent victory against Edgar Berlanga.
Naoya Inoue Vs. Ramon Cardenas
Naoya Inoue (29-0, 26 KOs) will defend his undisputed junior featherweight championship against Ramon Cardenas (26-1, 14 KOs) on May 4. Inoue, who is unbeaten in title fights, has an impressive record including multiple championships across different weight categories. Cardenas, ranked 9th in junior featherweight, is on a 14-fight winning streak but faces a significant challenge against the experienced Inoue.
