COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four Ohio State wrestlers are set to compete at the 2025 NCAA Quarterfinals on Friday, with three others aiming for third-place finishes as the tournament continues at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Nic Bouzakis (133), Jesse Mendez (141), Dylan D’Emilio (149), and Seth Shumate (197) each achieved a 2-0 record on Thursday to secure spots in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Brendan McCrone (125), Brandon Cannon (157), and Nick Feldman (HWT) had mixed results, splitting their matches to advance to the consolation bracket with hopes of finishing third in their respective weight classes.
As a collective, Ohio State currently ranks fourth in the team standings after the opening day with 18 points.

Session I Highlights
No. 7 Nic Bouzakis (133) secured his second victory of the day with a 9-4 decision over No. 23 Sean Spidle from Central Michigan, proceeding to the championship bracket’s round of eight. No. 3 seed Jesse Mendez (141) also advanced after an 11-2 major decision against No. 14 Sergio Lemley of Michigan.
Further victories came from No. 13 Dylan D’Emilio (149) with an 8-5 decision against No. 29 Jack Gioffre, while No. 5 Brandon Cannon (157) narrowly lost in overtime to No. 12 Caleb Fisk of Oklahoma State.
No. 23 Seth Shumate (197) continued his journey to the quarterfinals with an 11-6 win over No. 26 Brock Zurawaki of Rider, while heavyweight No. 12 Nick Feldman lost his second-round match to No. 5 Ben Kueter of Iowa.
In the consolation matches, No. 20 Brendan McCrone won decisively 12-4 against No. 29 Joey Cruz from Iowa to stay alive in the competition, while No. 26 Paddy Gallagher was edged out in a tight bout against No. 23 Thomas Snipes, allowing for only a tiebreaker win.
