With the opening days of Major League Baseball and Triple-A now completed, the focus shifts to the Minor Leagues.
This Friday marks the start of the season for the other three levels of affiliated baseball, as Double-A, High-A, and Single-A leagues kick off their respective campaigns on Minor League Baseball’s second Opening Day.
A total of 61 games are set to be played on Friday throughout the Minors. Here’s everything you need to know about MiLB Opening Day:

Where Top 100 Prospects Will Start the Season
Twenty players from MLB’s Top 100 prospects will kick off their 2025 season at Double-A. Notable names include Walker Jenkins, the No. 3 overall prospect (MIN No. 1), top 2024 draft pick Travis Bazzana (CLE No. 1/MLB No. 9), and leading left-handed pitching prospect Noah Schultz (CWS No. 1/MLB No. 15). Meanwhile, 16 prospects will start at High-A and an additional nine at Single-A.
Notable Matchups for Opening Day
Chesapeake Baysox (BAL) @ Altoona Curve (PIT), 6 p.m. ET: This game marks the season’s first non-Triple-A match, with the Bowie Baysox shifting to their new identity as the Chesapeake Baysox. Their logo features an eye-catching blue crab waving the Maryland state flag.
Fredericksburg Nationals (WAS) @ Carolina Mudcats (MIL), 6:30 p.m. ET: The Carolina Mudcats are hosting their final home opener before relocating later in the year. After this season, they will become the Wilson Warbirds.
Winston-Salem Dash (CWS) @ Rome Emperors (ATL), 6:30 p.m. ET: In a rare occurrence, the Emperors will play their home opener on the road due to facility issues, albeit still being recognized as the home team.
Dayton Dragons (CIN) @ West Michigan Whitecaps (DET), 6:35 p.m. ET: This matchup features the Free MiLB.TV Game of the Day, boasting an exciting debut from Chase Burns, the second overall pick in the 2024 Draft.
