Trump Sons Host Event for Crypto Company
Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, the eldest sons of former President Donald Trump, are hosting an event at Mar-a-Lago to promote their cryptocurrency venture, World Liberty Financial. This occasion serves as a notable acknowledgment of the Trump family’s resilience and influence, amid ongoing concerns over corruption involving foreign governments and U.S. executives seeking to benefit from their association with political power.
While no livestream is available for the World Liberty Forum in Florida, CNBC is providing coverage as an “exclusive partner.” CNBC anchor Sara Eisen interviewed the Trump sons to discuss the conference’s objectives.
“In 2020 and 2021, we were essentially the most canceled people,” Eric Trump remarked. “It’s gratifying to reclaim our narrative and push our agenda forward. Our aim is to modernize finance and ensure that no one experiences similar challenges in the future.”
Eric Trump omitted mention of the events of January 6, 2021, when a mob rallied to disrupt the certification of the 2020 election results, which led to major social media bans for his father. The Trump family has faced banking restrictions linked to these events, subsequently resulting in a lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase by the former president.
The Trump brothers expressed to CNBC that launching their crypto firm has granted them “credibility” in a space outside traditional banking. However, Eisen highlighted that many critics argue their reputation is primarily tied to their father and his presidency. Eric Trump defended their position, suggesting that they were left with few options given the circumstances they faced.
Speakers at the World Liberty Forum include influential leaders from both government and finance, such as Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon and NASDAQ CEO Adena Friedman. Eisen inquired about foreign investments in their crypto operations, specifically citing a substantial payment from individuals linked to the Emirati royal family.
In response to questions about these dealings, Donald Trump Jr. asserted his father’s disconnection from them and dismissed implications regarding AI chip access. He emphasized their commitment to combating perceived conflicts and maintaining their business interests. Furthermore, he highlighted the prevailing benefits of cryptocurrency in democratizing financial opportunities.
