The Buffalo Bills are currently on summer break, with training camp set to commence at St. John Fisher University.
With a roster that boasts Super Bowl-caliber talent, many positions appear to be secured. However, there will be intriguing competition to watch, along with a potential surprise player or two fighting for a roster spot.
While these competitions will evolve over time, here’s our forecast for the Bills’ 53-man roster ahead of training camp.
QUARTERBACK (2): Josh Allen, Mitch Trubisky
Cut: Mike White, Shane Buechele
Don’t dismiss Mike White’s chances for the backup role. Currently, this prediction is based on the belief that the Bills may be able to place White on their practice squad. If he performs better than Trubisky this summer, Buffalo might opt for White as Josh Allen’s backup, thus freeing up some cap space.
RUNNING BACK/FULLBACK (4): James Cook, Ray Davis, Ty Johnson, Reggie Gilliam
Cut: Darrynton Evans, Frank Gore Jr.
No surprises here. James Cook has attended mandatory minicamp and will be at training camp, aiming to secure a long-term deal with the Bills or another team by the end of the 2025 season. The depth behind Cook remains robust, with Ray Davis expected to step up in his second year and Ty Johnson taking on third-down responsibilities.
Gore Jr. is a solid candidate for the practice squad.
