Chris Larson Returns to Moorhead Country Club as General Manager
FARGO — Chris Larson started his journey in the golf industry in the bag room at the Moorhead Country Club and is now returning to take on a newly established role as general manager.
Larson stepped down from his position at Osgood Golf Course, partly due to the evolving nature of the role, transitioning from PGA head professional to golf manager.
“One door closes, and another opens,” Larson remarked. “Returning to the Moorhead Country Club is a fantastic opportunity and a fresh challenge. From the perspective of the Fargo Parks, that position was changing and no longer fully aligned with my career goals.”
Under Larson’s leadership, MCC has seen significant membership growth, now capping at 430 members with a waiting list. His new role will encompass a variety of responsibilities, including maintaining golf operations and developing a comprehensive master plan for the club, which features updates like a new irrigation system and course renovations.
The board of directors actively created this position to guide the club through its transitional phase. “They wanted someone with a strong golf background as a leader,” Larson explained. “Although it feels different to be in this role after being a golf professional for many years, they’re looking for someone capable of steering the club’s direction.”
Having worked at Osgood since 2021, Larson has a rich history with MCC, where he began in the bag room during high school, moved to maintenance staff in college, served as an assistant teaching professional for nine years, and eventually became the head pro for five years.
In discussing his role with the board, Larson noted the importance of adapting to meet the club’s needs. “They have a strong food and beverage department, which reassures me, considering it’s not my expertise. They’re planning a lot of golf initiatives ahead, and they need someone vocal and visionary at the helm,” he stated. “This place has always felt like home to me.”
