This week, we’re bringing you five new draft-related questions that center around the Dallas Cowboys. We encourage you to cast your votes on each question and share your thoughts in the comments below.
Disregarding BPA, which position should be prioritized in the first round?
Many fans feel that wide receiver is the clear priority here. The Cowboys are in need of a WR2, and this year’s draft class for receivers is not as strong as usual. Additionally, cornerback is a significant need, with limited depth available in this year’s draft pool. Some argue that the offensive line requires attention due to last year’s issues, while others advocate for a defensive tackle, citing the considerable talent available at that position in the first round and its significance for Dallas.

Would you be satisfied with WR Matthew Golden as the 12th pick for Dallas?
Currently, there’s substantial buzz around the possibility of “Matthew Golden to Dallas.” He is generally regarded as a solid first-round pick, and his speed fits well with the team’s needs. After losing Brandin Cooks to free agency, the Cowboys find themselves with a good group of WR3/4, but need more. Golden impressed at the combine, clocking an impressive 4.29s in the 40-yard dash. Having played a critical role in the Longhorns offense after transferring from Houston, he led Texas with 987 receiving yards and nine touchdowns last season. However, he hasn’t consistently surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in college, and tends to struggle with drops and contested catches.

With CB Trevon Diggs likely starting the season on PUP, does that make cornerback the team’s biggest weakness?
Jourdan Lewis had a strong 2024 season but was unable to remain with the team financially and has now signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Though Josh Butler had shown potential last year, an injury will sideline him for much of the upcoming season. Inside sources at The Star speculate that Diggs’ condition might be more serious than it appears, suggesting he might start the season on PUP. This situation leaves DaRon Bland as the only reliable starting cornerback for the team.

Who do you feel has been the biggest draft bust in team history?
As the draft approaches, it’s a fitting time to reflect on some of the Cowboys’ past draft failures. Many fans are likely to remember Taco Charlton, who was selected instead of T.J. Watt and struggled to stay with the team for more than two years. Cornerback Morris Claiborne, drafted sixth overall after a trade, was plagued by injuries and never met expectations. Other names that come to mind include Quincy Carter, who still elicits negative memories for some fans, and Rod Hill, regarded as one of the biggest busts from Tom Landry’s era in the 80s. Feel free to mention any other names you believe fit into this category in the comments.

Historically, which defensive lineman stands out as the best?
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the remarkable 1975 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, famously referred to as “The Dirty Dozen.” This draft class helped pave the way for the Cowboys’ Super Bowl success and dominance during the late 1970s. Leading this outstanding group was Randy White, also known as The Manster. This rookie class eventually produced not just a Hall of Famer but also four other Pro Bowlers, including wide receiver Percy Howard, who became the second rookie in NFL history to score a touchdown in a Super Bowl.
