Kendall George’s Stealing Streak
The Dodgers’ No. 25 prospect, Kendall George, has been making waves at High-A Great Lakes this season, and his performance isn’t slowing down.
A Rapid Rise
At just 20 years old, George, who was picked 36th overall in the 2023 Draft, is arguably the fastest player in the Minor Leagues. He is establishing himself as one of the top base-stealing threats in recent history.
Chasing History
With only four games remaining in the High-A season and an impressive 11 steals in his last four games, George had accumulated 97 stolen bases in 110 games as of Thursday. This total ranks as the fifth-highest for a single season among Minor Leaguers since 2005. Only three players in that period have stolen over 100 bases: Billy Hamilton (2011, ’12), Chandler Simpson (2024), and Delino DeShields Jr. (2012).
On the Cusp of 100
To join the elite 100-steal club, George needs three steals in his last four games—and seven more to tie Simpson’s 104 from 2024, which ranks second since 2005. Hamilton leads with an astounding 155 in 2012, a record that may stand the test of time.
Mindset and Performance
“Going out there and being fearless and understanding that I am capable of doing this was really all I needed,” George shared in a phone interview with MLB Pipeline. “I just put my head down and kept running.”
