Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu, the current ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion, may not have a confirmed opponent for his next fight, but his goals are more defined than ever.
The Mongolian fighter has already made his mark within his own weight division and is now poised to further his martial arts legacy by targeting a match against ONE Featherweight MMA World Champion Tang Kai, seeking another championship.
For Baatarkhuu, moving up a weight class is not merely about adding another title to his collection; it’s about solidifying his legacy as one of the sport’s all-time greats.
“All martial artists have a dream to become multi-division champions, right? For me, it’s the same. Most importantly, I want to make history as the first-ever two-division Mongolian MMA World Champion. That is my biggest motivation to challenge Tang Kai for the featherweight belt,” he stated.
A potential clash between Baatarkhuu’s relentless grappling and Tang’s knockout prowess promises to be a thrilling event for ONE Championship fans worldwide. Enkh-Orgil has even imagined how this potential fight might play out.
“I don’t know how the fight will end; it could be a knockout or submission. But in my mind, I foresee a five-round battle and believe I have a chance to outlast him,” he elaborated.
Although moving up to face a formidable champion like Tang poses challenges, fans will have to wait, as Tang is set to defend his title against Shamil “The Cobra” Gasanov on May 15 at ONE Fight Night 43.
Should Baatarkhuu get the opportunity later this year, his historic run and proven ability to defy the odds make him a formidable contender. After all, he won the ONE Bantamweight Title by submitting former champion Fabricio “Wonder Boy” Andrade last December at ONE Fight Night 38.
