Lane Johnson Successor or BPA for 1st round pick?
Curious about the BGN community’s stance on the Eagles’ first-round draft choice this year? The search for Lane Johnson’s successor has been a hot topic. Alongside this, there are other essential roster needs (Edge, OG, TE, S, CB) being debated, with numerous players available for the Eagles at pick 23.
Many sources indicate that most starting offensive tackles are selected in the first round. While there are exceptions (like Jordan Mailata), the first round typically has the highest “hit rate.” Mock drafts indicate that by the Eagles’ second-round pick (#54), all top OTs are usually gone, leaving only developmental prospects like Dametrrious Crownover, who is not a guaranteed long-term replacement for Lane Johnson.
If the best player available at pick 23 isn’t an offensive tackle, would you rather the Eagles select the best available player or the top offensive tackle?

2026 NFL Free Agency Grades for All 32 Teams – PFF
Philadelphia Eagles: C+. Cornerback Riq Woolen joins the Eagles, coming off the least favorable season of his four-year career but known for his volatility. He has achieved 50 pass breakups and interceptions combined but allowed 20 touchdowns and incurred 35 penalties. EDGE Arnold Ebiketie also becomes an Eagle. Although he wasn’t a standout pass-rusher for the Falcons, his metrics consistently improved, leading to a 73.4 PFF pass-rush grade and 16.8% pass-rush win rate in 2025. While Ebiketie might not step in as the primary edge defender, he provides promising depth without significant financial implications.
