Local Investors Acquire Spring Creek Golf Course
A group of local investors has purchased Spring Creek Golf Course, intending to improve its facilities while maintaining its operation as a public course.
Course Details
The 126-acre, 18-hole course, established in 1994, is located southeast of Sioux Falls along the Big Sioux River, adjacent to Good Earth State Park at Blood Run.
The Grevlos Family’s Vision
Led by managing partner Dann Grevlos, the investment group, Fore Score LLC, includes his wife Cindi, their children Brett, Aimee Kockenge, and Conor. The family had contemplated acquiring a golf course earlier this year and discovered Spring Creek was on the market.
Investor Engagement
Grevlos initially contacted Bri Kacmarynski at NAI Sioux Falls for figures, not expecting to finalize a purchase. After discussing the opportunity with his family and golf-savvy relatives, they decided to move forward, forming a team of 20 local investors who share a passion for golf.
Foundation’s Commitment
The South Dakota Parks & Wildlife Foundation previously owned Spring Creek, leasing it back to ensure community access. The foundation aims to reinvest sale proceeds into enhancements for Good Earth State Park and surrounding areas, emphasizing its commitment to outdoor recreation.
Future Plans and Improvements
The Grevlos team plans to make several improvements, starting with replacing a washed-out bridge at hole No. 12, restoring its par 4 status. Upgrades, including new golf carts and simulators, are also in the works, along with expanded food and beverage options.
Community Engagement and Growth
Grevlos envisions a new clubhouse that could serve as an event venue, aiming to increase rounds played from 26,000 annually to reach city-course levels. For him, the successful acquisition has been a dream come true, bringing the family together for a memorable celebration of their achievement.
