Celebrating Mario’s 40th Anniversary
September 13 marks the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., prompting this special Friday Direct. In addition to announcing updates for the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Nintendo unveiled the title of the next Mario movie, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, set to hit U.S. theaters on April 3. While no new 3D Mario game was announced, we can look forward to Mario Tennis Fever, arriving on Switch 2 in February, and a new Yoshi adventure titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book next spring.
Donkey Kong Bananza DLC Launches Today
For fans of Donkey Kong Bananza, a new paid expansion titled DK Island & Emerald Rush is now available for $20. The expansion invites players to explore Donkey Kong’s island and includes a new Emerald Rush mode where players can undertake timed challenges. During the Direct, release dates for both Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Hades 2 were exciting reveals. Metroid Prime 4 will arrive on December 4, while Hades 2 is set for a September 25 launch, coinciding with its full release on PC. Both games will support cross-save between platforms, enhancing the player experience.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Release Date
The Direct also confirmed the release date for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, scheduled to launch on November 6. This game follows Princess Zelda’s journey through time, as she encounters historical characters and battles against Ganondorf, with cooperative multiplayer options available.
