In my view, this is a major that doesn’t require much buildup before it begins, but it promises to deliver a fantastic spectacle once the competition starts. The top players are in peak form, and the stakes are higher since a win here carries more weight than a Truist Championship. Let’s explore some key players and narratives.

The modern notion of the Big Three often falls short, but this iteration includes this year’s best player (Rory McIlroy), the current world No. 1 (Scottie Scheffler), and potentially the best major performer in the past year (Bryson DeChambeau). As with Augusta, Rory and Scottie are frontrunners according to betting odds, followed by Bryson, then a few other talented players.
Rory’s case is straightforward: he is in top form and has a successful history at this course. The importance of distance off the tee plays a significant role, and Rory’s ability to dominate this course with power and precision has led to multiple victories. Justin Thomas noted that Rory’s shot shape is particularly beneficial for this course configuration.
PGA Identity
