Exciting SEC Matchups Await South Carolina Women’s Basketball Team

The SEC schedule for the South Carolina women’s basketball team for the 2025-26 season was unveiled on Tuesday. The Gamecocks, who are the reigning champions of the SEC regular season, will kick off their campaign on New Year’s Day against Alabama, a team they will face twice this season. The schedule wraps up with five of the last six games against teams that participated in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, with four consecutive games to conclude the season.

Out of their eight home games in the league, six will be against 2025 NCAA Tournament teams, including four that ended the previous season in the top 20. Notable matchups at home include Tennessee, who reached the Sweet 16 (Feb. 8), and Ole Miss (Feb. 22), along with border rival Georgia (Jan. 11) and NCAA qualifier Vanderbilt (Jan. 25).

The Thursday home games commence on January 1 against Alabama, followed by a rematch with last season’s co-champions, Texas (Jan. 15), along with games against Mississippi State (Feb. 5) and Missouri (Feb. 26) at Colonial Life Arena.

On the road, the Gamecocks will have a rare Saturday matchup at LSU on February 14. Their weekend games also include Sunday contests at Florida (Jan. 4), Alabama (Feb. 19), and Kentucky (Mar. 1). Their Thursday road games are scheduled against Arkansas (Jan. 8), Oklahoma (Jan. 22), Auburn (Jan. 29), and Alabama (Feb. 19).

Over the past 12 years, South Carolina has claimed nine SEC regular-season titles, including the last four in a row, consistently ranking in the top two. Head coach Dawn Staley has an impressive record of 214-56 in SEC games, boasting a .793 winning percentage, which is second in league history. Her 214 wins lead all active coaches and rank third all-time.

Game times and television details for all matchups will be announced later. The SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament will be hosted in Greenville, S.C., for the ninth time at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The tournament, featuring all 16 teams, is set to start on March 4, culminating in the championship game on March 8.
