Felix Auger-Aliassime kept his hopes for the ATP Finals alive with a comeback victory in his third-round matchup.
This week, Auger-Aliassime has shown remarkable resilience, coming back from a set down for the third time at the Paris Masters.
After falling behind against Daniel Altmaier, the Canadian recovered to win the next two sets, 6-3, 6-2, securing his quarterfinal berth.
In the next round, he will face Valentin Vacherot, who triumphed over Cameron Norrie earlier that day.
Auger-Aliassime Labels Vacherot’s Success as a ‘Fairytale’
The world number 10 expressed admiration for Vacherot, now on a 12-match winning streak at the Masters 1000 level. “He’s had an incredible journey, a true fairytale story,” said Auger-Aliassime.
He emphasized, however, that winning at this level requires genuine skill, not just luck: “To conquer a Masters, you must be playing exceptional tennis, which he clearly is.” Auger-Aliassime noted Vacherot’s consistency in his serve and backhand, as well as his impressive physicality and patience from the baseline.
As their match approaches, Auger-Aliassime reflects on his connection to the French audience, hoping for their support as he faces Vacherot for the first time in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Paris Masters.
