Angelo Leo is set to travel to Japan on May 24 to defend his IBF featherweight title against Tomoki Kameda.
The 30-year-old Leo (25-1) previously held the WBO super bantamweight title but lost it to Stephen Fulton. Currently, he is riding a five-fight winning streak with four victories coming by knockout. “El Chinito” secured the featherweight title by defeating Luis Alberto Lopez in August.
After a two-year hiatus, Leo has regained his form with the help of a partnership with ProBox TV. Transitioning from Plant City, Florida to Japan in a division he feels comfortable in, Leo is focused on making a significant impact in this new chapter of his career.

“Knocking him out would be a powerful statement, but I don’t want to pressure myself too much,” Leo explained to Uncrowned. “A knockout would definitely make a statement, particularly fighting in his hometown, but my main goal is to defend my title successfully.”
Kameda (42-4), a former NABF and WBO bantamweight champion, has recently achieved a 6-1 record in his last seven fights after falling short in attempts for the WBA title. Known as “El Mexicanito,” he boasts 23 knockout victories.
