AUSTIN, Texas — Five former players from the University of Texas men’s basketball team have been included in the 2025 NBA Summer League rosters. They are Max Abmas (Utah Jazz), Tre Johnson (Washington Wizards), Arthur Kaluma (Los Angeles Lakers), Sir’Jabari Rice (Los Angeles Lakers), and Kadin Shedrick (Cleveland Cavaliers). They will compete in the NBA’s summer league throughout July.
Max Abmas, who wrapped up his Texas career in the 2023-24 season, participated in 50 games with the Salt Lake City Stars in the NBA G League last year, averaging 13.8 points and 4.8 assists over 26.4 minutes per game. He shot 37.2% from three-point range and 83.6% from the free throw line. During his final season at Texas, Abmas started all 34 games, led the team in scoring (16.8 ppg), assists (4.12 apg), and minutes (35.1 mpg), and received multiple honors, including All-Big 12 First Team recognition.
Tre Johnson was picked sixth overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2025 NBA Draft, becoming the 10th lottery pick in the history of the UT basketball program. In the 2024-25 season, Johnson played and started 33 of 35 games for Texas, leading the SEC in scoring with an average of 19.9 points while shooting 39.7% from three and 87.1% from the free throw line. He earned accolades such as SEC Freshman of the Year and was named to both the All-SEC Second Team and the five-person All-SEC Freshman Team.
Arthur Kaluma was a starting player for Texas during the 2024-25 season, previously playing at Creighton (2021-23) and K-State (2023-24). Throughout his four-year college career, he recorded 1,639 points and 866 rebounds. Last season, he started 33 games, leading his team in rebounding (7.5 rpg) and double-doubles (8), while also contributing significantly to scoring (12.3 ppg) and blocks (30).
Sir’Jabari Rice concluded his Texas career in the 2022-23 season and has since played in the NBA G League with teams such as the Austin Spurs and South Bay Lakers. Last year, while with the South Bay Lakers, he averaged 13.5 points and 3.1 assists over 40 games, showcasing impressive shooting percentages of 50.8% overall and 41.9% from beyond the arc. Rice was recognized as the National Sixth Man of the Year and earned several All-Big 12 awards during his time at Texas.
Kadin Shedrick enjoyed a two-year playing tenure at Texas after three years at Virginia. He has a total of 1,011 points and 627 rebounds over his collegiate career, maintaining a shooting percentage of 60.0%. Last season, he contributed offensively as a starter in all 35 games, leading the team in blocks (58) and finishing second in rebounding (6.1 rpg).
All 30 NBA teams will compete in the NBA 2K26 Summer League which is scheduled for July 10-20 in Las Vegas.
