Can Anyone Take the Crown from Aaron Judge?
As we move through 2025, Aaron Judge remains unbeaten at No. 1 in our Hitter Power Rankings, and the gap between him and the competition is significant. Yet, a rising star from the Pacific Northwest is making waves in the rankings.
Understanding the Rankings
The Hitter Power Rankings are generated using a formula crafted by MLB.com’s data team, which weighs recent and season-long performances alongside stats from the past year. Recent performances hold the most weight in this calculation.
Current Hitter Power Rankings
(Stats reflect games played through Tuesday)
1. Aaron Judge, Yankees (Previously: 1)
Judge continues to dominate, offering no room for challengers. His OPS across ten-game segments for this season is impressive: 1.276, 1.187, 1.229, 1.380, 1.105, 1.220, and a remarkable 1.618 over his latest five games. He has consistently maintained an outstanding level of play in 2025.
2. Cal Raleigh, Mariners (7)
Surprisingly, it’s not Judge who leads in home runs; it’s the switch-hitting catcher Raleigh, who has made significant strides this year. Raleigh has already hit 26 homers, boasting a .632 slugging percentage. Noteworthy is his nine homers and .830 SLG in his last 13 games, but can he sustain this excellence while playing a demanding position?
3. José Ramírez, Guardians (4)
After an underwhelming start to the season, Ramírez has turned things around dramatically. Over his last 32 games, he’s slashed .395/.460/.653 with seven home runs and 11 stolen bases, proving he remains a key player for the Guardians as he aims for a seventh All-Star selection.
4. Pete Alonso, Mets (Not Ranked)
Alonso struggled in May but has rebounded since June began, showcasing a powerful return with a 1.337 OPS and six home runs in just nine games. Currently leading the MLB in RBIs with 62, he’s also made franchise history by passing David Wright for second in career home runs for the Mets.
5. Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers (2)
Although Ohtani is having a relative slump by his own high standards, he still leads the National League in several categories, including SLG and runs scored. His batting line so far in June reflects a notable decline, yet he is expected to return to form as he also prepares for his pitching comeback later this summer.
