HUNTR/X’s song “Golden” climbs to the top spot in its first week on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
This inspiring track is featured in the popular Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters, marking the first time the group has reached No. 1, with vocals by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI. The soundtrack has now dominated the Billboard Soundtracks chart for seven consecutive weeks.
“Golden” is notable as the ninth Korean pop song to top the Hot 100 and the first featuring female lead singers. It joins other recent hits from BTS, such as “Seven” by Jung Kook and “Like Crazy” by Jimin, and it adds to BTS’s previous six No. 1 songs. HUNTR/X singers EJAE and REI AMI hail from Seoul, while Nuna is from New Jersey.
Additionally, “Golden” is the first track with a fictional background to hit No. 1 since the ensemble’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”, which led for five weeks in early 2022, showcasing the trend of hit songs from animated films.
HUNTR/X also marks a significant achievement as the first all-female collective of three or more members to take the top spot on the Hot 100 in 24 years since Destiny’s Child’s “Bootylicious” in August 2001.
Furthermore, Chappell Roan’s “The Subway” debuts at No. 3, marking her highest entry to date and her fourth top 10 hit. This new track comes after strong performances of her previous hits, showcasing her growing popularity in the music scene.
