ROHNERT PARK – On March 26, Graton Resort & Casino (GRC) marked a significant milestone in the construction of its expansive 179,620 square foot casino project.
Members of the construction crew, GRC staff and executives, tribal members from the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, media representatives, and friends gathered to witness the installation of the final beam, celebrating with cheers as it was put in place. As per construction tradition, attendees signed the beam to inaugurate the festivities.
This expansion is a component of a larger $1 billion initiative aimed at enlarging the Rohnert Park, CA site. A cutting-edge solar-powered parking garage is already functioning, and the casino’s expansion will introduce a new poker room, rooftop dining, a sports bar, and a high-limit gaming area. The enlarged facility will offer more smoke-free gaming options for guests and is expected to open in early 2026. Following this, a new hotel tower will commence development in June, effectively doubling the site’s lodging capacity. Subsequently, construction will begin on an amphitheater and an expanded pool area, which will include an adults-only pool with a walk-up bar.
The expansion area will also feature retail spaces.
During his address, Greg Sarris, Chairman of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, announced that the Graton Resort Casino is on track to become Sonoma County’s largest employer, with an anticipated addition of over 600 jobs upon completion of the expansion.
Highlighting the significance of dignity in the workplace, Sarris emphasized that Graton staff enjoy competitive wages and the Kaiser Gold Cadillac plan, which are just a few reasons why employees appreciate their roles at the casino resort.
Sarris expressed gratitude for the resilience and collaborative spirit demonstrated by their tribe throughout history. “As American Indians who have faced significant historical challenges in this county, my people have shown a remarkable ability to partner with others and rise above adversity, establishing a business that benefits all,” he remarked.
Graton’s ongoing commitment to collaboration with local city and county governments is evident, as the casino has thus far contributed approximately $245 million to these entities, in addition to around $115 million in charitable donations aimed at promoting social justice and environmental sustainability in the region.
In closing, Sarris acknowledged the dedicated tribal leaders, construction teams, and Graton staff for their efforts to ensure smooth operations on the construction site and throughout the resort. “We are progressing, aligned with the vision of our ancestors, to care for our community and our land… Your support has been crucial for achieving our ongoing mission,” he concluded.
