As the final day of competition unfolds in Greensboro, Denison has secured the men’s team title, while the women’s championship battle intensifies between MIT and NYU. Currently, NYU leads by 20 points, although they will have fewer swims in the finals tonight. A victory for either team would be historic, as only four teams in Division III history have claimed a women’s team title: Williams, Kenyon, Emory, and Denison. Here’s the current standing of team scores:
Women’s Standings (Top 5)
- NYU – 368
- MIT – 348
- Kenyon – 315
- Denison – 278
- Emory – 267
Men’s Standings (Top 5)
- Denison – 298
- Emory – 250.5
- Chicago – 211
- NYU – 190.5
- Kenyon – 183
All defending champions are competing in the women’s events. The session begins with the 1650 free, where Bengisu Caymaz from Kenyon aims to win her first individual title after being outpaced by Bowdoin freshman Natalie Garre during the shorter distance last year.
Kaley McIntyre (NYU) has dominated the women’s sprint free events and looks to achieve a sweep in the 100 free, having set a new Division III record earlier this year. The defending champion in the 200 back, Kate Augustyn from MIT, faces stiff competition from Sophia Verkleeren of Williams, who is the top seed.
Among the men’s competitors, Lucas Lang (C-M-S) and Connor Vincent (NYU) will clash again in the 1650 free, having had an extremely close finish last year. The defending champion in the men’s 100 free, Djordje Dragojlovic, is among the finalists, while Max Cory (Bates) tops the field.
As the meet culminates, finals for the 400 free relay will take place, where both team champions will be determined.
