Next Generation Shines at All-Star Futures Game
The spotlight shifted to the next generation during the All-Star Futures Game held on Saturday at Truist Park. The National League emerged victorious with a score of 4-2, led by the standout performance of MVP Josue De Paula from the Dodgers. Cubs prospect Owen Caissie also had an impactful game, contributing offensively, while American League pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje made history as the only pitcher to retire batters using both right and left hands.

BLUE JAYS — Trey Yesavage, RHP: Yesavage impressed in his short stint, striking out the Cardinals’ top prospect JJ Wetherholt on just four pitches during the bottom of the third inning.
ORIOLES — Enrique Bradfield Jr., OF: As a pinch-hitter in the top of the fourth, Bradfield went 0-for-2 and played center field. Keagan Gillies, RHP: Gillies recorded the final out of the game in the seventh inning with a five-pitch flyout.
RAYS — Brody Hopkins, RHP: The Rays’ top pitching prospect worked efficiently, needing only nine pitches to have a clean sixth inning.
RED SOX — Jhostynxon Garcia, OF: Known as “The Password,” Garcia started as the cleanup hitter but struck out in both of his at-bats.
A Look at Other Prospects
YANKEES — George Lombard Jr., 2B: Lombard scored the first run of the game after walking, stealing second, and completing a groundout. He finished with a 1-for-2 record.
GUARDIANS — C.J. Kayfus, OF: Kayfus played first base, going 0-for-2 with a walk and strikeout. Parker Messick, LHP: The lefty escaped the first inning unscathed by striking out Zyhir Hope.
TIGERS — Kevin McGonigle, SS: McGonigle, recently promoted to Double-A, went hitless in two at-bats. Max Clark, OF: Clark walked, stole second, and later singled to contribute to the game.
