ICC Activates Contingency Plans for Men’s T20 World Cup 2026
The ICC announced on Saturday that it has implemented contingency strategies to ensure the safety, travel, and logistics of all stakeholders involved in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, taking place in India and Sri Lanka. The organization emphasized that the ongoing tensions in the Middle East do not directly affect the tournament.
In their media release on February 28, 2026, the ICC clarified that they are closely monitoring the situation and have arranged travel, logistics, and security teams to mitigate any disruptions, particularly for individuals who rely on Gulf transit hubs, such as Dubai International Airport, for travel after the tournament.
Those who may be affected consist of players, team management, match officials, broadcast crews, and other event personnel. Although the tournament is proceeding smoothly in the host nations, the ICC acknowledged that travel plans might need revising should regional conditions impact air routes through the Gulf.
An ICC spokesperson emphasized that ensuring the safety and welfare of everyone connected to the event is their top priority. The teams are diligently working to facilitate a safe and smooth return home for stakeholders with minimal disruption. Fans traveling to the tournament were also advised to stay updated on advisories and consider all relevant factors before making further travel arrangements.
As part of the response measures, the ICC’s travel and logistics unit is collaborating with major international airlines to find alternative routing options via European, South Asian, and South-East Asian hubs. Furthermore, security consultants are in contact with pertinent authorities and will provide timely updates as the situation evolves. A dedicated ICC Travel Support Desk has also been established.
The ICC reassured that it will continue to provide updates as necessary and remains dedicated to ensuring the safe and seamless conclusion of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The media release can be found on the official ICC website.
