Manchester United is actively seeking new players to enhance their squad during the January transfer window. Ruben Amorim’s team has struggled lately, achieving only two victories in their previous eight Premier League matches.
Securing a new signing could provide a boost. One player reportedly on United’s radar is Antoine Semenyo. According to Fabrizio Romano, they are making efforts to acquire the Bournemouth winger. However, with his £65m release clause set to expire on January 10th, United needs to act swiftly.
United Eyeing Young Talents
United is also looking to strengthen their midfield in the upcoming transfer windows. They have their sights set on highly-rated midfielders Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton, though both are priced at over £100m. Instead, United is reportedly preparing a move for Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, as indicated by Caught Offside.
At just 18 years old, Bouaddi is already making a significant impact in his early career, and United may be looking to secure him quickly, as they have been scouting him for some time.
Evaluating Bouaddi vs. Semenyo
United’s motto emphasizes “youth, courage, success,” and signing Bouaddi aligns with this philosophy. Recognized as an “elite level” player by Como scout Ben Mattinson, Bouaddi has shown promise. This season, he has participated in 20 matches for Lille, providing one assist, and he excels at transitioning play forward from the midfield.
While Semenyo would undoubtedly bolster United’s attacking options—currently boasting 11 goals and assists in 16 Premier League games—an additional midfielder may address the squad’s depth shortcomings more effectively. With Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes as first-choice options, the midfield requires reinforcements, making Bouaddi a strategic signing for both the present and future at a possible fee exceeding £44m.
