The 2025 Masters 1000 season is in full swing, with preparations underway for the clay court event in Monte-Carlo.
Last month, Jack Draper and Jakub Mensik delivered unexpected victories at the Sunshine Double Masters 1000 tournaments held in Indian Wells and Miami.
As players head to Monte-Carlo, the competition for the title is wide open, with numerous top ATP stars vying for success.
Stefanos Tsitsipas, the reigning champion, stands out as the most successful active player at this tournament, having secured three victories (2021, 2022, 2024) in the prestigious event.
Meanwhile, Miami Open runner-up Novak Djokovic is also a contender, especially after a commendable performance in Florida recently.
Taylor Fritz Withdraws from the Monte Carlo Masters Due to Injury
The world number four, Taylor Fritz, will miss the Monte-Carlo Masters in 2025 due to recuperation from an injury suffered in Miami.
Fritz had also withdrawn from this week’s UTS event in Nimes and is now expected to launch his clay court season in Munich.

Throughout his career, Fritz has recorded eight wins in Monte-Carlo but faced an early exit last year, losing to Lorenzo Musetti in the first round.
Fritz, having come close to reaching his first Masters 1000 final on clay last year, will now aim for a better performance in 2026 after focusing on his recovery from an abdominal injury.
In addition to Fritz, former world number six Hubert Hurkacz will also be absent, having announced his decision to skip this year’s only non-mandatory Masters 1000 event.
Will Taylor Fritz Be the Favorite for the 2025 Munich Open Upon His Return?
Despite claiming eight titles on the ATP Tour, Fritz is still seeking his first clay title, having lost his only final in Munich last year.
He will return in 2025 as the number two seed among a competitive field of top 30 players, making his comeback highly anticipated.
