Chiefs Practice Update: Training Camp Day 8
On Wednesday morning, the Kansas City Chiefs returned to the practice field at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph for the eighth full practice of their 2025 training camp.
Practice Details
This session was one of 17 planned for the team at MWSU’s Spratt Stadium. Of the upcoming practices, eight will be open to fans — click here for the full schedule — and one will be exclusively for Season Ticket Members.
Weather and Observations
Arrowhead Pride editor-in-chief Pete Sweeney attended and shared some insights via social media, noting that the day was much more pleasant for players, with temperatures in the mid-70s. Fans were asked to leave early due to nearby lightning, but the team completed their practice outside.
Practice Structure
Head coach Andy Reid conducted a lighter practice. The format involved a 10-10-10 cycle, alternating between 10 offensive plays, 10 defensive plays, and 10 minutes of special teams work, with the first-team offense facing the second-team defense.
Player Lineup and Injuries
With starting right tackle Jawaan Taylor sidelined, Jaylon Moore had an opportunity to step in. The first-team offensive line included Simmons, Suamataia, Humphrey, Smith, and Moore. Additionally, nine other players, including Hollywood Brown and Skyy Moore, were unable to participate in Wednesday’s practice due to injuries, resulting in increased roles for receivers Tyquan Thornton, Jason Brownlee, and Nikko Remigio.
Defensive Adjustments
Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo utilized a first-team secondary that did not include Kristian Fulton. The defensive lineup featured Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, and Chamarri Conner. Spagnuolo expressed confidence in Kevin Knowles, who is stepping in during Fulton’s absence.
Looking Ahead
The team will take a break on Thursday, with the next practice scheduled for Friday at 9:15 a.m. Arrowhead Time. Post-practice, defensive backs will be available for autographs, and coach Andy Reid will address the media.
