The Philadelphia Eagles concluded their spring offseason workout program last week. Let’s examine the winners, losers, and players about whom there are uncertainties from three media-attended practices, including two days of voluntary OTAs and one mandatory minicamp session.
Note: These were non-contact drills (no pads), and three practices provide limited information. Players can still alter their performance significantly during training camp and the preseason.
I DON’T KNOWS
LB JIHAAD CAMPBELL
Campbell, who is not yet at full recovery from offseason shoulder surgery, missed the first two media-attended practices. During the sole mandatory minicamp practice, he participated in position drills as an off-ball linebacker, but sat out team drills.
According to Vic Fangio, Campbell is expected to be sidelined until at least August. Assuming he returns by August 1, he will have missed around seven practices out of the 16 scheduled during training camp. Consequently, this may hinder his readiness for his rookie season.
LB NAKOBE DEAN
Fangio mentioned that Dean is unlikely to return for some time. Following a torn patellar tendon on January 12, he may start the season on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, missing at least the first four games. This year is crucial for Dean, especially since he will be a free agent after the 2025 season.
DT JORDAN DAVIS
We’ve heard repeatedly that “Jordan Davis is in the best shape of his life!”
This time, however, it seems potentially accurate!
Despite having played well during the playoffs, Davis’s overall statistical output has been low, raising concerns about his impact on the field. Fangio did not hesitate to limit his snaps compared to fellow players last season, but there’s hope for improvement.
CB ADOREE’ JACKSON
Jackson had a decent spring, remaining a contender for the starting cornerback position in the Eagles’ nickel defense. However, Kelee Ringo outperformed him, which could lead to a backup role for Jackson. That said, his veteran presence adds value to the team dynamic.
WR DARIUS COOPER
Cooper surprised with his performance as an undrafted rookie wide receiver from Tarleton State. While it’s uncertain if he can secure a roster spot, he may have a shot at joining the practice squad.
