On Monday, the YouTube channel Front Page Tech showcased renders of the rumored new design for iOS 19. At the end of the video, a new feature anticipated for the iPhone 17 Pro models, set to release later this year, was highlighted: dual video recording.
As per Jon Prosser, the host of Front Page Tech, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will provide the ability for users to record videos using both front and rear cameras at the same time. While this function is currently supported by certain apps like Snapchat, it will soon be accessible directly within the native Camera app. Samsung had previously integrated this dual recording functionality in the Galaxy S21 and subsequent models.
This dual video capability in the Camera app is expected to be a valuable tool for content creators on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, allowing them to superimpose a video of themselves over a broader scene, enabling viewers to see their reactions as they speak.
For those interested, details about this rumor can be found at the 9:13 mark of Front Page Tech’s video.
Apple is expected to launch the full range of iPhone 17 models in September, but it remains unclear why this seemingly straightforward feature will be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro models.
