James Gallagher’s RIZIN Debut

James Gallagher is set to make his RIZIN debut this Saturday at Landmark 13 in Fukuoka, facing seasoned fighter Kazumasa Majima. “The timing is perfect,” he asserts, as he returns to the spotlight.

A Career Transition

Once a top draw for Bellator, Gallagher played a key role in building a market for the promotion in Ireland. However, following Bellator’s merger with PFL, he found himself in limbo due to a lucrative contract that limited his activity. His sole fight with PFL in 2024 ended in a loss to Brazilian featherweight Leandro Higo, highlighting a shift in the promotion’s focus that left Gallagher feeling sidelined.

Since arriving in Japan, he has received an enthusiastic welcome, particularly from local fighters, with children at Wicky’s Gym adorning the windows with Irish flags in his honor. A unique moment arose during a massage session, where he unknowingly chose an ointment signifying “warrior,” further reinforcing his belief that everything is aligning perfectly for his upcoming fight.

Gallagher’s collaboration with RIZIN promises to redefine his career. Known for his magnetic presence in Dublin during his Bellator days, he aims to attract a European audience to the RIZIN stage.
