Jarrett Allen’s Dominance Shines in Cavs’ Win
PORTLAND, Ore. — Questions surrounding Jarrett Allen’s significance have been answered, especially after his impressive performance on Sunday evening.
In Cleveland’s 130-111 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, Allen’s impact was undeniable, helping the Cavs improve to a 30-21 record this season.
“This is the best I’ve ever seen him play,” said Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson, who was with Allen early in his career with the Brooklyn Nets. “From the very start, he completely dominated the game.”
Playing in the second game of a West Coast road trip, Allen set the tone early, scoring 16 points in the first quarter — a season-high for any single quarter. By halftime, he already had a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds, marking the highest scoring first half of his career, surpassing his previous high of 22 points against the Los Angeles Lakers.
As the game progressed, Allen continued to excel in multiple areas on the court, proving to be an essential player for the Cleveland lineup, particularly with key teammates sidelined due to injuries.
Throughout the game, despite the Trail Blazers attempting a comeback, Allen consistently responded to the challenge. He drew fouls, contributed offensively, and showcased his defensive prowess, effectively maintaining the Cavs’ lead.
Allen finished the game with a career-high 40 points on 16 of 23 shooting, along with 17 rebounds, five assists, four blocks, and two steals in just under 30 minutes on the court, setting records in the process. His remarkable performance was complemented by contributions from teammates, leading to an impressive overall team display.
