Miguel Angel Jimenez celebrated his thrilling win at the 2025 Principal Charity Classic, lighting a cigar in joy at Wakonda Club on Sunday afternoon.
The exciting conclusion of the three-day tournament featured a tense playoff between Jimenez, Cameron Percy, and Soren Kjeldsen.
Jimenez finished with a birdie on the 311-yard, par-4 18th, achieving a score of 2-under 70, and secured another birdie on the subsequent hole from four feet. The 61-year-old Spanish golfer maintained the lead throughout, starting the tournament with impressive rounds of 63 and 66.
With this victory, Jimenez reached 16 wins on the PGA Tour Champions, having previously claimed the Trophy Hassan II in Morocco in February and the Hoag Classic in March, held in Newport Beach, California.
Kjeldsen ended with a 63, while Percy shot 67, both tying with Jimenez at a total of 17-under 199. Kevin Sutherland trailed just one stroke behind with a round of 68.
Since its inception in 2007, the Principal Charity Classic has generated over $62 million for charities supporting children in Iowa. This year’s tournament hosted 78 players and featured a total purse of $2 million, with $300,000 awarded to the champion.
