The NBA summer league rosters feature five players from Auburn, who played crucial roles in reaching the Final Four of last year’s NCAA tournament, along with four players from Alabama that contributed to their advancement to the East Regional Final.
NBA summer league action kicks off on Saturday and will run for the next 15 days.
Johni Broome from Auburn was selected as a second-round draft pick by the Philadelphia 76ers on June 25. Meanwhile, Alabama’s Mark Sears, along with Auburn’s Dylan Cardwell and Miles Kelly, have signed two-way contracts, enabling their movement between the NBA and its Gatorade League affiliates.
Most players in the summer league face tough competition to secure a spot in the NBA, while others aim to make a comeback to the league.
Josh Primo, a former guard from Alabama, falls into the latter category after missing the entire 2024-25 season. He is currently on the Chicago Bulls roster for the NBA 2K26 Summer League, which will take place from July 10-20 in Las Vegas, featuring all NBA teams.
The summer league begins with two four-team, three-day tournaments. The California Classic in San Francisco includes the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, and San Antonio Spurs. Broome is set to make his debut with the 76ers against the Utah Jazz in the Salt Lake City Summer League at 8 p.m. CDT on Saturday, with the game televised by ESPN.
Notable players from Alabama high schools and colleges in the NBA summer league include Brooks Barnhizer (Oklahoma City Thunder), Johni Broome (Philadelphia 76ers), and Mark Sears (Milwaukee Bucks), among others.
