It’s a good time to relax and assess as long as all players pass their physicals.
The first week of the 2026 NFL offseason’s free agency has mostly concluded, yet the adjustments to team rosters will continue. Free agency plays a significant role in shaping teams, but it seldom addresses all roster needs.
The writers at The Athletic are revisiting their offseason checklists for each team. What actions have teams taken, and what gaps remain in their rosters?
Arizona Cardinals
General Manager Monti Ossenfort has made strides in enhancing the offensive line during free agency, bringing in guard Isaac Seumalo and tackles Elijah Wilkinson and Matt Pryor. While Seumalo has extensive starting experience, the team still needs to strengthen its line further, particularly looking for additional talent in the draft to support anchor Paris Johnson Jr. — Doug Haller
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons have re-signed defensive tackle LaCale London and acquired Chris Williams; however, between them, they possess only six starts in seven NFL seasons. Following the departure of veteran David Onyemata to the Jets, Atlanta’s young defensive talent needs reinforcements, likely pushing them to use one of their early draft picks on a solid defender. — Josh Kendall
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens continue to require help in the trenches. While they secured left guard John Simpson, they lost Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum, necessitating a new starting center and other potential upgrades. Additionally, the Ravens should aim to enhance their defensive line depth, especially if Nnamdi Madubuike won’t return. — Jeff Zrebiec
Buffalo Bills
Despite acquiring Bradley Chubb, the Bills must focus on infusing youth into their outside linebacker unit. Currently, they lack an explosive pass-rusher, making this a critical area for improvement in the upcoming draft. Chubb’s addition provides stability, but further enhancements are necessary. — Joe Buscaglia
Chicago Bears
The Bears have made recent signings to their offensive and defensive lines, providing flexibility for the draft. However, there’s an obvious need for enhanced talent and depth, particularly at left tackle and center. A focus on strengthening their defensive line to boost the pass rush is also needed. — Dan Wiederer
Cleveland Browns
Although the Browns have added several offensive linemen, they still face challenges at wide receiver and quarterback. Assuming Shedeur Sanders will compete for the quarterback role, the receiving corps must improve, especially with hopes for Jerry Jeudy’s resurgence following a disappointing 2025. — Zac Jackson
