Eight days until Opening Day …
Today, we’re diving into bold predictions, and I have one for every team. My new prediction, which I just came up with this afternoon, is that Kristian Campbell will be a top-five second baseman in 2025.
I was initially optimistic about Campbell during spring training, but I had to scale back my expectations as he struggled in Grapefruit League games. His playing time seemed uncertain after the signing of Alex Bregman. However, recent developments suggest otherwise.
Despite a tough start this spring with a .167/.286/.222 record, Campbell shone in the Spring Breakout game and seems to be impressing the Red Sox management. A notable Boston Red Sox beat writer recently reported that Campbell is emerging as a frontrunner for the second-base position. While this is not a guarantee of a starting role, it indicates that the team is invested in him taking over the position.
Although Campbell’s .330/.439/.558 performance in Triple-A last season demonstrates his potential, the crowded Red Sox roster means he has limited room for error. His average draft position (ADP) of 310.8 in March doesn’t accurately represent his upside, and I believe it could be a missed opportunity for many Fantasy players. I would recommend drafting Campbell in the later rounds over other players like Matt McLain.
In conclusion, I’m ready to make a bold prediction: if Campbell makes the Opening Day roster, he has the potential to be a top-five second baseman in Fantasy this season. This prediction is contingent on his roster status, but I feel more confident in it than I did just a day ago.
Today is about making bold claims—one for all 30 teams. We’ve discussed the Red Sox, but let’s keep the momentum going and explore predictions for the remaining teams.
