LeBron James Shines Despite Age
HOUSTON — LeBron James sat in front of his locker late Wednesday with ice packs on his right elbow and knees, his feet submerged in an ice bucket. He acknowledged feeling his age at 41 years and 78 days.
“Look at me right now,” James remarked after leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 124-116 road win against the Houston Rockets, marking the team’s best winning streak of the season at seven games. “I feel terrible right now. However, during the game, I felt good. I was a bit tired before it started, but I pushed through.”
James contributed with a stellar 30-point performance, including six dunks. Lakers star Luka Doncic, who also had an impressive 40 points, praised James, calling the dunks “insane.”
According to ESPN Research, James’s dunk count was the highest in a game since March 9, 2017, matching his record for alley-oops in a single game. His athleticism, even at this age, continues to amaze teammates and opponents alike.
Lakers guard Austin Reaves noted that James remains more athletic than 95% of the league despite losing some edge due to age. James leads in fast-break points, proving he still has what it takes to compete at a high level.
Interestingly, James became the first Laker in over two decades to score 30 points on 90% shooting. His single miss came during the fourth quarter and was controversial, leading to a light-hearted comment from Lakers coach J.J. Redick about “foul baiting.”
The Lakers have relied on James less than ever yet are still achieving great results. He has adapted his role, now averaging 20.8 points with a shooting percentage of 61.5% over the past eight games, highlighting his patience and chemistry with teammates like Doncic.
In a pivotal moment during Wednesday’s game, Doncic assisted James with a perfectly timed lob, securing the Lakers a six-point lead in the final minutes. Doncic expressed that winning and enjoying the game is what it’s all about.
